Artists in Residence

Since the beginning of Christianity, the church has been an incubator and parent of the arts, using various art forms not only as a vehicle to proclaim the Gospel, but as a means to help humanity explore and interact with the beauty and truths of our world.  It is fitting for us to carry on this tradition given our strong commitment to music and outreach in our community and another way in which we can grow in God’s love to promote justice, healing, and reconciliation.

The Ninth Street String Quartet brings inventive programming and insightful commentary to their concerts with the aim of connecting audience members, no matter their previous experience with classical music.

To celebrate our new partnership and the new organ at Saint George’s, a new piece has been commissioned from American composer Steven Snowden for string quartet and organ. We look forward to its premiere in the Spring of 2023.

Saint George’s is proud to partner with 9th Street Chamber music as their program home and host of the their String Quartet Intensive, which provides area youth with a high-level ensemble experience, coached by the professional musicians of the 9th Street Quartet.
